This year has flown by. It has been full of exciting prospects and drastic changes in our lives... for the better. We have been quiet, but it's not without good reason.
In April, Daniel and I began our journey to becoming foster parents. Working with a local foster agency, we have completed numerous hours of training and observation with the goal of getting certified as a home for placement by the end of the year. Speaking of home, Daniel and I purchased our first home! We have spent the spare time we have between work, school, training, and observation getting the house ready and I am ecstatic to report that we are almost there. Our next step is a home study and inspection. If all goes well, we will be foster parents before you know it.
Through this process we have met incredible social workers and foster families that have dedicated their lives to helping children that are facing challenges far greater than one could imagine. These caregivers work tirelessly to ensure that these children are given an opportunity to just be kids, to lead normal lives in every way possible, and if at all possible, to be reunited with their families. Daniel and I are so grateful for the chance to be a part of it. Hopefully, we will one day be, not just a foster home for these children, but a forever home. Either way, we are excited to have the opportunity to help. If a child is with us for a day or for the rest of their lives, they will always find a home with us. We don't know where this journey will lead us. We know what we hope for, but until then we will expect the unexpected.
We cannot express how humbled and thankful we are for all your support through the years. This has been a very long, emotional process but it has been worth it. We can’t wait to share what we are able in the coming months. Thank you for sticking with us.
Happy holidays and happy New Year! It’s gonna be a good one.
All our love,
